Istella is pleased to announce its participation in the Villanova Project, selected as part of the IPCEI-CIS (Important Projects of Common European Interest – Cloud Infrastructure and Services) program, dedicated to the creation of sovereign European digital infrastructures and advanced technologies based on Generative Artificial Intelligence and next-generation language models.
Istella actively collaborated with Tiscali in drafting and presenting the project, participating in discussions with the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) and the European Commission, and contributing to the definition of both the scientific and technological objectives of the initiative.

Within the project, Istella will leverage its expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and information retrieval, contributing in particular to:
– developing and integrating multimodal generative AI models (text, images, and other media) applicable to different domains;
– experimenting with federated cloud-edge architectures for scalable and secure data processing;
– designing innovative components for the management, classification, and semantic enrichment of complex digital content.

The Villanova Project, led by Tiscali Italia S.p.A., aims to promote an open and competitive digital ecosystem, fostering European technological sovereignty, cloud service interoperability, and the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence in industrial, public, and academic sectors.
Through this initiative, Istella reaffirms its active role in the European digital transformation, contributing to the development of intelligent infrastructures and services as well as to strengthening Italy’s position within EU strategic programs dedicated to innovation and Artificial Intelligence.
