A New Digital Library for the Senate of the Republic
Istella is collaborating with the Senate of the Italian Republic in the creation of the new Digital Library, a strategic project aimed at enhancing and making accessible, in an integrated way, the vast documentary heritage preserved by the Senate Library “Giovanni Spadolini.”
The initiative seeks to unify and modernize the systems of digital archiving and research, centralizing in a single environment access to different types of materials — including Parliamentary Records, Journals, Historical Documents, and Special Collections — previously distributed across separate platforms.
The new system will allow users to consult and analyze documents through an advanced search engine based on indexing technologies and semantic management of content and related metadata. This approach will ensure more intuitive, comprehensive, and coherent access to institutional information resources, while also supporting the preservation and enhancement of digital assets.
Thanks to its expertise in Information Retrieval, Big Data Management, and the development of scalable search infrastructures, Istella contributes to the design and implementation of the new digital ecosystem, which represents a significant step forward in the technological and documentary innovation process of the Senate.
The project is part of a broader initiative for the digitalization and open access of institutional content, with the goal of promoting knowledge, transparency, and the dissemination of parliamentary culture through modern and accessible tools.
